Planning the Wedding Day 

It is fantastic when all the months of planning come together to create such a memorable occasion. I was delighted to be chosen by Louise and Chris to photograph their big day at manor by the Lake. After all there are well over fifty Gloucestershire wedding photographers. I arrived at the stunning Manor by the Lake exclusive use wedding venue on a very sunny April morning. The cottage which is set in the grounds of Manor by the Lake was a hive of activity. Louise and her bridesmaids were being pampered by hair stylists and make up artists. The atmosphere was great, there was a huge feeling of positivity. A great sign for a wedding photographer.

The Day of the Wedding

A little later Chris, his best man and groomsmen arrived and set up camp in the “man cave”. Officially known as The Rock Bar. The Rock Bar is a great space for the boys to get ready. It has everything a bunch of guys need.  A bar (of course), TV, pool table and table football, along with attentive staff to cater for your every need. When Chris and the groomsmen were ready, we headed off outside to see the grounds and get some photo’s.

When I next met up with Louise and the bridal party, they had moved up to the bridal suite, such a wonderful room. I am very privileged as a Gloucestershire wedding photographer, to be part of so many unique occasions. I see many wonderful photography backdrops and the bridal suite at Manor by the Lake is one of the nicest examples I have seen. With the girls ready, Louise’s Dad was invited into the bridal suite to see his daughter before she was married, a very emotional moment.

The Wedding Ceremony

You can see from the pictures below the set up for the ceremony in the Italian Gardens is beautiful. The vows were completed in a sun drenched Italian garden and before we new it Louise and Chris were walking back down the aisle as husband and wife. The happy couple were then showered in confetti by their guests

Drinks and canapés were served by the Manor by the Lake team, as the couple were hugged, kissed and congratulated by their guests.

The opportunity then arose for me to take the couple away from their friends and family to capture those all important couples portraits capturing Louise and Chris on the post ceremony cloud of happiness.  The manicured grounds of the Manor lend themselves perfectly for great photography. 

The Wedding Reception

It has to be mentioned, the food served at Manor by the Lake is always of an incredibly high standard (it really is fantastic!).  Everyone tucked into their food, still in high spirits after the wedding ceremony.  There was also a sense of anticipation ahead of the speeches, and they certainly did not disappoint.  The phrase “nailed it” could well have been used for every speech.  

Summer weddings are always great, as we are blessed with so much natural light. Eventually though dusk started to fall, and we captured some lovely moments during golden hour. There was then the traditional toss of the bouquet followed by the cutting of the cake.

Following the first dance, Louise and her father graced the dance floor before the party goers had the opportunity to show everyone their best moves. The night began to draw in, which was the perfect time to shoot some pictures of the couple in front of the Manor House. It really does provide a spectacular backdrop.

Bonfire night was way off, but a wedding is always a great opportunity to get the sparkers out and make a tunnel for the bride and groom, what a day, evening and night.
